Is assisted living the same as memory care in Tennessee?

No. In Tennessee both are delivered inside a licensed Assisted Care Living Facility (ACLF), but memory care means a secured unit with dementia-trained staff, which the state reports as “secured beds” within the ACLF license.

Data source + refresh cadence

Assisted Care Living Facilities and Homes for the Aged come from the Tennessee Health Facilities Commission (Board for Licensing Health Care Facilities) ACLF and Home for the Aged quarterly licensure reports (October 2026 quarterly bed reports, retrieved 2026-10-23), filtered to active licenses in Davidson, Williamson, Rutherford, Sumner, Wilson, Maury, Robertson, Cheatham and Dickson counties. Enforcement history comes from the Commission's monthly Facility Action and Abuse Reports, January 2025 through September 2026 (no January 2026 report was posted). Nursing homes come from the CMS Provider Data Catalog. Phone numbers are not in the state reports; where shown they were checked on the operator's own website.
